The past few weeks have been full of game changers on many different levels!

The third and probably biggest game changer has been deciding where I'm going to practice.
It's definitely hard moving anywhere after Portland because nothing will every be quite like it. It's so different from what I'm used to, but it does have a little bit of something for everyone. Earlier I decided to take the North Carolina board exam as well because I live close to the boarder and if I needed to do relief work while I get my business started, having my NC license would open up a few more options. So last Friday I went up to Greensboro, NC to spend the night and take my test the next morning. Needless to say it was a Beautiful drive through the Smokies.
Papa-san (our Dad's code name), got me a fabulous hotel for the night in downtown to study before my test. I was a little stressed out because I hadn't studied that much, so I got to the hotel right at 3 to check-in. When I checked in they asked me to sign a reminder about quiet hours, which I thought was a little weird. As I got onto the elevator two very nicely dressed, very built black men got into the elevator. I'm not talking like suit and tie nice, I'm talking real Gucci belts and diamond Rolex SWAG. They were wearing dark glasses so I couldn't really tell who they were, but i knew I knew one of them from somewhere. Naturally I asked them to press number 11 because I had my hands full and I'm a freaking lady.
After a little internet searching I found out that I had asked Trey Songz to press my floor in the elevator. Apparently he was in town for a concert the next day and some kind of voting rally at the local college campus. Later that night I went to relieve some study stress in the hotel gym. When I got back on the elevator (all sweaty and nasty mind you) I ran into a huge drunk posse of people including Big Sean looking exactly like his Wiki photo. While I wanted to go party with them on the 9th floor, I had a test at 8am.
Naturally I started cramming at 5 that morning, and when I went down at 6:30am to checkout I found about 20 hookerish looking felines hanging in the parking lot by the tour buses. That takes commitment to be dressed up spanx and all at 6:30am.
Once I got to the exam I realized I had been TRICKED!
Apparently there is a 2 1/2 hour lecture going over the NC chiropractic act before the actual jurisprudence exam. While I actually thought every state should have this because it made the rules actually make sense without all the legal jargon, I was not happy I had studied so much. I could have been training to be a rapper's baby's mama!
Touche NC
After the exam I talked to a few people. Mostly from NYCC, which I thought was weird. I then talked to one of the NCCA board members about a job at one of his 3 clinics! Not that I'm still looking for a job, but he told me I had a beautiful way about me and to come visit his office.
That was pretty much the boost I needed to get my butt back in gear about opening up my own practice. Seriously everyone taking that test with me was so freaking weird and antisocial. I mean who goes in a room full of chiropractors and doesn't say anything!? I wanted to talk to everyone about everything!
On the drive home I really looked deep down and did some soul searching about what I wanted in life and where I wanted to be in the next 5-10 years.
This was my answer:
That may be more like the 10-20 year plan, but it works. Mom tried to tell me that I've always wanted to live in the woods, and I did always choose the log cabin in the game of LIFE. Call it foreshadowing!
The next day Rissa and I made a trip up to Asheville, NC, and it was definitely the biggest game changer. I hadn't been there in about 2 years, but it was already bigger and more beautiful than I recalled. I know it will be hard to break into that area because there are already a decent amount of chiropractors there, BUT I can't let that get me down!
The only bad news is that I now have to re-do my whole business plan with Asheville demographics. Boo!
Well...off to work!
